Page of Swords

Page of Swords Tarot Card

In the Page of Swords, we stand on the crest of a hill, the bright and beautiful sky before us. A young lad is standing on that hill, his long hair blowing in the breeze. His arms hoist up a large sword... much too large for him, actually... but his face holds a look of determination and force. He seems ready to battle with whatever comes his way.

Information, problems, and their answers are important to the Page of Swords. This card may occasionally provide an untrustworthy message, implying that information should be double-checked before making a judgment. It also denotes a time of fresh ideas and concepts. Although the ideas may not be as sound as they could be, any modifications based on them will be implemented promptly.

As one of the less mature manifestations of the element of air, the Page of Swords is a page who is just learning what it means to have mental fortitude – to push himself just that extra bit and see what rewards come out of it. He is learning that he doesn't need to say /“yes/” to everything – sometimes “no” is the best response, even if it seems cruel. He is learning to be honest, even when that honesty is hard to say out loud. He is learning the power of the sword – it can cut through friend and foe alike.

The Page of Swords may be asking you to act as the Page acts – to find perseverance, honesty, and mental acuity within yourself. Above all, he asks you to remember that he is only a child – if he can pursue these subjects of the mind, so can you! Push yourself harder and further than you've pushed yourself before, and you'll turn up the same astonishment and power that the Page himself revels in.

The Best Way to Learn is to Do

Here are some things to ask yourself when you see the Page of Swords in your readings. Does the Page represent a person? If so, who? What message or lesson do they hold for you? How do you feel about truth? Can you push yourself further than you have before? What do you think would happen if you did? Can you deal fairly with friend and foe alike?

This is a hard card to parallel – he is nearly singular in what he represents. Thankfully, we can see some similarities in other cards of his suite, namely the Ace and the Knight. The Ace of Swords is what the Page himself is approaching for the first time – you can almost see the boy timidly approach that giant sword and pluck it from the air, ready to swing it. The Knight of Swords is a little further along in his journey in the Swords suit, but he has more negative aspects prevalent in his presentation than the young, inexperienced, innocent Page.

What Page of Swords Means for You Today

When the Page of Swords appears in your reading it is suggesting that you take some time to study and examine the issue at hand. There could be some information that you are missing that could fill in the gaps and help you solve whatever problem you may be facing. This card also calls for more focus. If your attention has been scattered and you are persuing too many things at once, this is a suggestion to pick one thing and narrow your focus for a while. As they say, the person who chases many rabbits catches none.
